Caught Shoplifting in New York
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York
I am 17. I got caught trying to steal a pair of shoes that cost $38 at Urban Outfitters. They did not call the police and this will not be appearing on my record, but I am banned from the store for 3 years. After calling my home (they spoke to my 22-year-old brother), they told me that I would be receiving a letter in 30-60 days with a fine to pay. About how much is the fine and whose name is on the envelope- mine, or my guardian's?

The same thing happened to me today!! Except I am over 18. I just signed a form saying that I will not return to the store within three years. Do you think I will get a civil demands in the mail although they did not tell me I would?
