After 8 Yrs, Found Out I Am Not Divorced
My question involves divorce in the State of: California
I found out this morning, 3-13-09, that I am still legally married, after 8 years of believing I was divorced. This was a very expensive divorce and niether attorney filed the final divorce decree. All property was divided and I received spousal support for three years. I have not re-married, however, my "ex" has.
My question is: What are the legal and financial ramifications of this error? Are either of us entitled to financial gain or responsible for financial loss? Is his current marriage valid? What about social security? Will lawyers be necessary?
All information would be helpful as I would like to have this finalized ASAP.
