    Retail Theft and Terrified
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas

In December of last year, I was fired from my job at Petsmart. I knew it was going to happen. I knew it since that November, when a manager secretly informed me that loss prevention had called to inquire about me. I wanted to quit, but figured it would be incredibly suspicious. The office found out about my theft by returns. I was guilty of $570 in stolen cash that I put into my pocket. I'm eighteen and no longer a baby. I've never had ANY sort of record, always been a good kid. I moved away from all of my friends I'd had for the last seventeen years, and was lonely. I found a "friend" in the park and got the job through her. She taught me to do this. I still can't believe I did. It carried over a period of a little over two months.

My friend said she'd pay the money to the company when she found out. Trusting her completely, I told the man from loss prevention. Then she bailed on me, and when I tried to explain, the man wouldn't hear it. He told me that further communication would have to be with police. Through much guilt and suffering, I sold some of my cherished possessions and paid the company back. In addition to that, I've got $200 left in payments for the civil charges from their attorney. I'm sure there are bound to be criminal charges as well. I don't want to put this all off on my parents. I've paid so far with my own money. I'm in my last year of high school, making A's. I don't want my life to be ruined by this. I've definitely learned my lesson. Of course I know I'll need to be getting a lawyer, (anyone know of one for this sort of thing?) and a new job. A job is hard to come by since my name was entered into some kind of consumer reporting agency.

Anyone have advice for this young fool? I'm REALLY scared.

    Tell your parents.

They will need to get you an excellent attorney to try and keep this from hanging around your neck for a very long time.

There is no way to be removed from the National Theft Database. I recommend another line of work.

I have told my parents. Fortunately, I'm very blessed to have parents that understand and want to help me.

Do you have any suggestions of where to go to find a lawyer for this kind of a case?
