Speeding Ticket in a School Zone
I got a speeding ticket for going 28mph in a school area in Seattle. I have two questions:
1. I have a very clean record; no tickets/accidents in the last 10 years. What is the likelihood of getting a deferment? I have been told that since the ticket was in a school zone in Seattle, i may not be allowed a deferment.
2. Should i get a lawyer? I have been told that lawyers often contest the ticket based on administrative technicalities and are mostly successful in getting the tickets dismissed? How accurate is this?
Appreciate your help. Thank You
Re: Speeding Ticket - School Zone - Seattle - WA
Every jurisdiction is different -- however, NONE that I know of allow a deferral for a school zone violation. I don't know about Seattle, however. Call the Clerk of the Court and ask. As far as an attorney goes, that's your call.
