Shoplifting in Virginia

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
About a year ago I was caught shoplifting at a Walmart in Virginia. I worked at a Walmart in NC. I went to court, paid my fines, took my classes, quit my job at Walmart (yes quit, not fired), found another job and tried to get on with my life. That didn't happen, I am haunted night and day. I have always been a good person, no record, church going, married with 2 great kids. I am now on depression pills, have migranes, and am constantly thinking about what happened....the getting caught, going to court, my friends where I used to work. This one mistake I made has changed my life forever, I cannot sleep at night for thinking about all this, I have even threatened to kill myself because of this. Then I think about my kids I love so much, so I couldn't do that. How can I get past all this and the one mistake that has ruined my life. I know it's my own fault....mine alone, but how can I move on and really put all this behind me? Thanks

Get it expunged, and it will be like this never happened.

Virginia makes it extremely difficult to obtain an expungement if you've been convicted of an offense.

You have to accept your messed up and move on with your life. You have so much to live for your husband and your children. Think of how much you are hurting them. Yes, you made a mistake and yes it was very stupid. You learned from it and now you know not to do something like that again. Of coarse you feel guilty for your lack of judgement and shoplifted, but you have to understand you are not that person anymore. You are not stealing anymore, you have learned to be better than that. We all make mistakes, but you live with them and they make you stronger. Now you know what to do next time you get tempted, you say no i'm better than that. I know how it feels, how stupid you feel you are, but we all mess up. You need to forgive yourself, you deserve that. I am 18 years old and recently got caught stealing 135 dollars worth of stuff from old navy in virginia. I messed up my chances of going to a university and probably am going to lose my liscense because i had a wreckless charge that was to be dropped in ten days from now if i had kept my nose clean. Yes my life will not be great for awhile, but i will find a way to overcome this and move on with my life. You deseve that to, you are a different person and you have to see that for yourself.you have so much going for you; remeber that =) <3
