How Long Does It Take for Prosecutor to Press Charges
After someone is reported to police for a minor misdemeanor charge (such as shoplifting) , if the store wanted to press charges how long would it take after it happened for it to go to a prosecutor and for a warrant or summons to be put out ?

That's impossible to say. The state can pursue charges any time before the statute of limitations has expired. In most instances, this will be one year or longer.

Typically, I suspect that most people will be charged (arrested or issued a summons) within 3 to 6 months of the incident ... maybe less. There is no cookie cutter time frame out there, sorry.
