Misdemeanor: Drug Paraphernalia
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Arizona
I was on a road trip from Florida to California and back. I was coming back and was pulled over in Arizona for my window tint being too dark. Ok, but I was acting nervous and the cop asked to search my car. I signed the consent paper and said ok. I told him upfront that I had 2 bongs and some misc. marijuana materials. He just confiscated them and said that since I was honest I wouldn't be taken to jail to be finger printed, etc... Though, he told me that it was a misdemeanor charge and that he wrote how honest and compliant I was in his paper work. And that as a result they will probably just give me a fee(because they "have bigger fish to fry."). But he didn't seem so certain as to what will actually happen. I am now back living in Florida and have to wait for a phone call from them. What can I expect? I am 21 with no criminal history. I appreciate any info/advice! Many thanks.
Re: Misdemeanor: Drug Paraphernalia
Arizona maximums are here.
Given that you were cited for misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia, it's exceedingly unlikely that you will see anywhere near that large of a fine.
Like you, however, we can only speculate. For more firm answers, consider consulting with an attorney to help you get your situation sorted out.
