4 People on a Lease - Dispute, What Legal Rights Do I Have
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York, NY

My question involves what legal rights I have as a signee of a lease with three other people. We were just notified that one person will be moving out by March 13th and myself and my other roommate do not agree with the person she has selected to move in in her place. What legal rights do I have to argue that this should not occur?

    Thank you!

This is a month-to-month tenancy, or a lease?

If it's the former, you can end the tenancy and move, find your own new roommate, etc.

If it's the latter, if you unreasonably refuse a replacement roommate (that your landlord finds acceptable), you should expect that a court will deny you any claim of rent against the roommate who moved out. Obviously, we have no information about why you consider the proposed roommate to be unacceptable.
