Best Visa for Bringing Fiance to the U.S.
Hello,
I've been reading through this forum and have some questions which I hope someone might be able to help me with.
I met my boyfriend while doing research in Bosnia (I'm originally from MN) and we are now considering marriage. He still needs to finish his degree in Bosnia and we are wondering what would be the best visa for him. I find this whole process very confusing and we really don't want to be apart from each other.
If we get married in Bosnia and then apply for a visa, how long does the process take and would he be able to work right away if he received a positive answer and came to America? Could I be in Bosnia with him or would I need to be in America?
If we opted for the Fiance visa how long is the process and would he be able to work right away?
Or are there other options that we should consider?
Thank you! :)

The question of whether or not you can stay with him in Bosnia is one you need to post to a Bosnian lawyer or Bosnian immigration officials.
If you marry him on a fiancé visa, he needs to come to the U.S. and marry you within the specified 90-day window. It's usually slower to get a spouse visa, but if he's studying or working in Bosnia that may be a reasonable or better option. He can seek work authorization when he petitions to adjust his status.

Thank you for your reply and advise. We will be speaking to a lawyer regarding my possible status in Bosnia and try to work from there to see what our best options are.
Thank you again!
