MIP in Califonia
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
I was issued a citation for MIP of alcohol, in Westwood, California.. I am 18. The officer circled 'I' indicating the charge to be an infraction. Will this definitely hold in court as an infraction, even though the statute indicates MIP to be a misdemeanor? Will my license be suspended with an infraction? What is the fine? Will this go on my record?
This has been asked often, but I need specific clarification. THank you.

Re: MIP in Califonia
MIP can be charged as an infraction. It may be possible to work out a plea bargain to an even lesser charge, such as disturbing the peace. Your fine and other sanctions will depend upon your ultimate disposition. If you're convicted of the MIP offense, you should expect a license suspension although you may be eligible for a restricted license.
