    My question involves criminal law for the state of: any state

    wants to put something you said on record?

    More or less having the information transcribed by a court reporter and included in the minutes of the case.

    doesnt it also commit you to your statement? if you later say something different, wouldnt that be grounds for perjury?

    I'm sure it does commit them to their statement since it's on record.
