This is great - thanks for the super quick reply. Is the parody version of a song itself protected? In other words, if someone else wanted to copy Weird Al's "I'm Fat" song (a parody of Michael Jackson's "I'm Bad"), would they need Weird Al's permission? Also, can the gereral idea of the style of parody be protected? If I wanted to make a humurous country version of pop songs (with new lyrics), for example, could the concept of making humurous country versions of pop songs be protected?
