Applying for Citizenship with a Misdemeanor
Hello,
in 2001, I was pulled over for driving with an expired plate and fake sticker. I wasn't arrested nor fingerprinted. Went to court and plead guilty. Paid a fine and got a 3 years good behavior probation. Charge code is 4462.5 VC: Avoid registration compliance.
8 years later, I passed the probation with flying colors and haven't been in trouble since. I've checked my criminal records last month and it's clean. What are my chance of passing the interview and becoming a US citizen?
Also should I file for dismissal, which I do qualify for under section 1203.4. If I don't need to then I'll leave it as is, but if it'll help my chances then I should do it right?
Thanks!

With a motor vehicle violation?
Extremely good. Especially given the age of the violation, successful completion of probation, and an otherwise clean and shiny record.
You can certainly file for a dismissal, but it won't make much difference for your naturalization petition, because your record in its entirety will still be available to USCIS officials.
