Changing a Retail Theft to Disorderly Conduct
My question involves criminal law for the state of: IL

I was arrested for shoplifting and got a lawyer. The prosecutor changed the charge to disorderly conduct and gave me court supervision. My lawyer said that disorderly conduct is not a reportable crime and won't ever show up anywhere. He said it was better than getting the retail theft dismissed, because that would still show up on a background check. I trust that he told me the truth, but just thought I would see if anyone else knew if this was true that the disorderly conduct wouldn't show up anywhere?

It really depends on the background check.

I'm given to understand that some disorderly conduct charges in Illinois are treated as no more serious than a traffic ticket, but I've not been able to find a statute to back this up.
