Is She Being Charged

My question involves criminal law for the state of: MA

I posted here a little while ago on behalf of my sister, but did not receive any great feedback. She was caught shoplifting back in October in the amount of $86. The LP officer called the cops, but the cops never showed and my sister was let go. It has nearly 4 months and she has heard nothing from the courts. She paid the civil demand in full as soon as it arrived. Now, I know no one can see the future but, in your experience, how long does it take to process a case such as this in the state of Massachusetts? Would she have heard by now if she had a criminal case pending against her? Thank you!

They have a year to press charges.

It's unlikely that they will do so over $86, but they do have a year to make the decision and either let it go or move forward.
