Refusal of Registration for an Unlicensed Driver
My question involves insurance law for the state of: Alabama

Can the state refuse me tagging an auto with no drivers permit for over 16 yrs.? I'm on the registration & title with my father listed as him (or) I as he has now passed on & a notice was fwd. to him for proof of insurance within 30 days. I would like to continue receiving a new tag but do not want to drive or have a drivers permit at 73. I only want to let another drive me that has no car or auto insurance. Thank you,

Nothing on the DMV website suggests that you can't register the vehicle, although it seems you'll probably have a hard time getting insurance for it with no license. Were you refused?

HELLO, I was not refused. After reading requirements from state tax dept. I felt they would refuse me due to lack of drivers permit & will not tag auto without liability. I've been checking into a surety bond as it does seem no company will insure a vehicle without a licenesed driver & I'm not sure about a surety bond. No company wants to give you info without a full background disclosure with ss number ertc. giving you a set amoiunt it will cost you. That I'm not going to do with a company I don't know. Not sure what older people can do to own a car & have someone else drive for you.. Thank you, Gary
