    Actually I changed my sons last name from his fathers to mine when he was really young. You have to file papers in court (call the local gov't center) and then send a certified letter to the father, if you don't get a response you have to post it in the paper for a period of time. If he doesn't show to court it will usually be granted, at least mine was.

    My little girl is 1 year old and well the birth father lives in hawaii and is gething married over there whit her soon to be wife pregnet ...he dose not help me take care or buy things for the baby and now he douts that my litttle girl is not hes kid and wants to get a DNA test..........i want to change my babys last name to mine but i know that the birth fathe wount agree .....what can i do to change it whit out hes approvel?????

    Typically, you will file a legal action in the court with jurisdiction over the custody issues, and prove it's in your child's best interest that her name be changed. The procedure and details will depend upon the laws of the state in which you litigate.
