Emancipation

My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: California

Well, I'm going to cut straight to the point here. My girlfriend (now 16) has been dating me (recently turned 18) for nearly two years now. We have never had sex, and never done anything against the law. We both work hard and do well in school. Our problem lies with her father. He has nothing against her dating, but has always had a problem with me. He has personally met and been fine with past boyfriends, I remain a issue of conflict.

He has recently placed her in therapy for being with me, and he has also been trying to pursue criminal charges against myself for being 18, despite the previous history her and I share. Her and I both find this to be more than stressful, and its only getting harder on the two of us. She wishes to be emancipated, and we're looking for ways to do this as pain-free as possible.

Like I have said, we're both hard working, and both very capable of finding a place to live. We already have quite a few options lined up.

Any advice would be wonderful here.

Your very question shows that you and she are too immature.

Emancipating is never pain-free.

Tell her to get a full-time job and support herself 100% when she turns 18; then she will be emancipated and have all the worries of adulthood.

What history?

That you two have dated? What makes you think that relationship is legally stronger than a parent child relationship?

There is not a judge in any jurisdiction that will emancipate a minor so that she may participate in a relationship her/his parents forbid.

Don't bother.

you want advice? Date someone else. You lose.

Until she is 18, she goes where her parents tell her to go, does what her parents tell her to do and associates only with those people her parents have allowed her to associate with.

You, apparently, don't make the cut.
