How to Determine the Status of My H1B
    Hi,

I was on H1B visa (which is valid till 2010) but had to go back to my country to get married. Since I did not have a project in US after marriage I filed for a Dependent Visa and I re-entered US on H4 in Nov'08.
But I am not sure if the Visa officer canceled my H1B as it is not slashed out on my passport.
Now I want to start working in US again and need to know the status of my H1B.
From where can I confirm if my H1B is still active and has not been canceled?
    Thanks in advance!

From what I understand of your situation, you are now in H4 status - that means you do not presently have H1B status. I'm not sure how many years will have passed from the time you got your H1B to the time it expires in 2010, but unless your sponsoring employer was cap-exempt you've been counted against the cap for six years following its grant, so you are likely presently eligible to obtain an H1B without being counted against this year's cap.
