Drug Use by a Permanent Resident
First thanks to all who respond to this, I am not in any current legal trouble but i was just talking to my parents about legal things and thought i should get some more proffessional advice, not to insult my parents understanding of the law. I am a resident alien from Canada and i have lived here most of my life (all but 6 months) i have had my green card now for 15 years. I have been known to smoke marijuana on occasion and i was wondering if i get into trouble for having marijuana or anything related to it what are the risks involved with loseing my green card or resident alien status. Any knowledge or things to know about this would be greatly appreciated, and thanks again to all who post.

    You're a permanent resident.

You are knowingly engaging in drug crime.

So either get citizenship so that you only have to worry about fines, probation and jail, or accept the fact that your continued, intentional criminal behavior potentially puts your Green Card in jeopardy.
