Emancipation
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Washington
My girlfriend is 17 years old, turning 18 in 3 months. She is almost 5 months pregnant. Her dad is out of control sometimes and I have been looking in to emancipation for her. She wants to be. She has a job and will be graduating soon. My mom has agreed to let us live with her. If the emancipation is approved we will make it. But I read it will be nearly impossible for it to happen since she is pregnant.
Also, I read if she runsaway and we report it to the police they will most likely take no harsh action to make her go home, if she doesnt want to?

Re: Emancipation
Even if she started the legal process today, she'd already be 18 before emancipation could happen. If she's already pregnant, emancipation won't happen anyway, so it's a moot point (and you totally miss the whole point of emancipation, which is to TOTALLY support yourself, not live with someone, or their mom).
If she runs away, it's a crap shoot. Police do take reports on runaways who are 17. How hard they'll look for one depends on any individual department, and even on each individual officer. They most certainly CAN make her go home, or can tell mom where she is and mom would then be free to go and get her. Might as well just wait out the 3 months than risk all the problems and hassle.
