Is It Possible to Transfer Community Service
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Long Beach, California
My question revolves around an optional community service fine I was given. I was lucky enough to receive a wet reckless and am very humbled that I did not hurt anybody and especially after the jail time i spent.
Ok, to get straight the point, I called the courthouse to schedule a hearing with the judge this Tuesday and my main concern is getting my community service fine transferred to Northern California because I had to move back with my family due to financial reasons. Does anybody know if this is possible and the likely hood of it being granted?
Thank you in advance!
Re: Is It Possible to Transfer Community Service
It is possible, but it will be up to you to show that it is the only option. The judge might decide that you'll have to serve time in custody, instead.
My experience has said they'll be lenient, but your need to move north should be compelling and not just on a whim.

Re: Is It Possible to Transfer Community Service
I see, well additional information:
My case was actually an underage case meaning my license is gone for a year. On top of that, as I said earlier, I had to move back because my family became really hard up financially, also, I am now a full-time student in Northern California seeking employment as well.
The penalties I was given for my wet reckless were:
-a fine or alternate community service for caltrans + fine
-12 hour alcohol class
-3 year informal probation
I really hope all will go well as my hearing is tomorrow.
