Arizona Emancipation/Marriage
So I'm 16. 17 in July.
I'm 2 months pregnant and my mother is being just..ugh
She doesn't have a problem with me seeing my baby's dad but his mom and him want me to live with them and that to me is a better environment for my future baby. My mother keeps threatening to send me back to Texas to live with my dad who is mentally unstable, financially unstable and a whole list of other things if I ask her again to live with my fiance. :wallbang:
I myself don't have a job yet but i've been looking so hard but with the recession and everything it's pretty hard to find something.
I was wondering could I either A) get emancipated even tho i can not support myself right now but do have someone else that will help me, a roof to live under, transportation, food, etc.
Or B) Could I petition to get married.
I know in some states if you have written proof from your doctor that you are pregnant you can get married under the age of 18 without parental consent but I don't know what Arizona's law is on that. Help please?
Re: Arizona Emancipation/Marriage
1.) If you cannot prove to the satisfaction of the judge that you can completely support yourself and the baby unaided, you would have a better chance of getting hit by lightning and winning the lottery on the same day than you would have of being emancipated.
2.) States are closing up those loopholes right and left. I believe there is currently one state left where there is even a prayer of getting a court order permitting you to marry without parental permission when you are under 18 and that state is not Arizona.

Please enlighten us.
You need to read the sticky about emancipation...it has nothing to do with a baby, boyfriend or a parent that you don't get along with.
Additionally, you need to change your attitude towards your mother. I'm sure she isn't in the best of moods after finding out that her teenage daughter is pregnant. She's being quite nice at this point, because if she decides that she doesn't want you to see your baby's daddy....she wins. If she changes her mind, she can keep you away from him and have him thrown in jail if you do. This goes until your 18.
Re: Arizona Emancipation/Marriage
I think there is one state where that is possible.
No, I am not going to tell you which one.
It is not Arizona.
