Caught Shoplifting at Walmart a Year Ago, Currently in Background Check for a Job
My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

About a year ago (21 years old) I was caught shoplifting at Walmart, the product was under $20. (First offense @ walmart)

I was sent to LP office and was questioned and my information was taken down, picture taken, and was told that I was banned from all Walmarts. A police officer was called and he asked for my driver's license to run a check (Don't know what for) and I wasn't arrested or taken to jail or was filed a police report. They let me go home and about a few weeks later I received a Civil Letter to pay the fee of $2xx.xx (I believe)

Currently I am in a background check for a job that I had applied for and was wondering if this incident will be in the background check.

Thank you for reading and replying

Run a background check on yourself with a few different companies.

You never know what will show up.

That's why YOU should be the one to tell the prospective employer.

It seems like they never pressed criminal charges and just let you off with a fine, you should be ok on the background check, you might be in a retail database of known shoplifters .The police was probably checking if you had any past incidents and since you didn't he let you go. If it's a retail job there a chance something might come up. If it's somewhere it most likely won't show up.
