    Emancipation In North Carolina
Can someone please help? I read what someone posted previously about the laws in North Carolina: when child turns 18, or if child is in high school, when child turns 20 or graduates from high school, whichever is first.

What if my child is 17 and has graduated from high school?

High school graduation is irrelevant for emancipation - North Carolina statutes set the age of majority at 18 (Chapter 48-a ss 48a-2). High school graduation or other specific ages are often part of setting dates for things like child support, but the child is question "emancipated" into adulthood at 18 regardless of other factors.
