Moving Out of State While on Probation in Nebraska
My question involves criminal law for the state of: NEBRASKA
Right now I am currently serving an 18 month to 2 year probation sentence for a 2nd offense DUI in the state of Nebraska and am wanting to move to Los Angeles, CA sometime in May or June of this year. I started my probation sentence in November of 2008 and am not going to be done until June 2010 at the earliest. I was just wondering what steps I need to take for me to be able to have my probation transferred out of state and as to how long this process might take.
I thought that the reason for probation is to help individuals rehabilitate their lives and reassess their current situations in order to become a better citizen. Right now I feel that by me moving and getting out of the living situation that I am in is going to be the best thing that I could ever do with my life.
I have already spoken briefly with my PO about transferring to another state, but he had mentioned something about if I don't have family where I want to move then it is more than likely not going to happen; since I won't have someone there to vouch for my responsibilities. This doesn't really make any sense to me at all, hence me coming to a forum looking for better answers.
If there is anyone at all who can either answer or guide me in a direction to get an answer, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
JAC

If you are moving to LA for a new job or a job transfer, that is good cause to transfer your probation. NE would stop you for that.
If you do not have family in LA nor a job lined up, then they can ask that you have a job lined up in LA before they grant you the transfer.
While on probation you have to have a job at all times. You cant just move to LA without a job, that would be a violation of probation.
