Being in National Theft Database
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
So obviously I was caught shoplifting (TjMaxx) and LP took me to the back. No police and no Civil demand. He took down my information 'just for their records'. I'm banned forever and a bad person blah blah blah.
What is the best way to figure out if you are in a national theft database? Call the TJ maxx or call the database company? Both seem like awkward situations.
Also finishing a BA in finance do most financial institutions check these? That question is a bit far out but anything would help.
Thanks
You guys run a great sight here too.
Re: Being in National Theft Database
How much did you steal? If you were not given a Civil Demand then your name would not be entered into the Choicepoint data base. So I am a bit confussed if you did or did not get issued a Civil Demand. MOst jobs invovling money would do a back ground check.

That may or may not be the case.
There is no hard and fast rule about when you put someone in the database... at least to my knowledge.
And yes, some companies outside of retail have used the database in the past.
