My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Texas
I am a divorced father of a 12yr old son that currently lives in Georgia. I was divorced in 1999 from his mother ad she has moved to 5 different states since the divorce. I have paid my child support and provided medical insurance from day one, yet I have been denied visitation of the child for 8yrs. I have exhausted every attempt to get the law to enforce my visitations. I have been told that in order to enforce my visitations I have to go to the state in which the mother and child have residency. Texas has jurisdiction over my child support and as stated I pay as ordered. Each time my ex wife moves to a different state she opens a new child support order stating that I have failed to pay and I have to contact Texas and to have the situation cleared up time after time.
Can I be emancipated and give up all rights to the child visitations and support on the basis that I am being denied visitation to begin with and would like to just move on with my life and not worry about all of this harassment. Please advice!
Mike~
