My question involves education law in the State of:
The Law says this
Macao residents shall have freedom to engage in education, academic research, literary and artistic creation, and other cultural activities.
So, can the school ban books? It's a catholic school and it banned Harry Potter :D
Advanced Thx for any replies
Parochial schools may not be subjected to constitutional standards as a public school would be, so initially, I would say it is permissable to ban any publication.
Re: Can a School Ban Books
Here is a US SC case dealing with banning books in public schools, but as you see, it is not applicable to parochial/religious institutions:

Are you asking about Macau? This is a U.S. board.
Re: Can a School Ban Books
Hmmm...Thanks
And lol, US boards seem more responsive.

Hello,
I am a reporter in a portuguese language newspaper based in Macau - Hoje Macau. I would like to know if it is possible to know more about the harry potter restriction.
You can contact me on the mobile (+853) 66893244.
Best regards,

Re: Can a School Ban Books
Emanuel, the restriction is based upon the books as promoting witchcraft, demons, goblins and give children the impression such things exists and corrupt thier minds.
Very overbroad "censorship" and ridiculous. Let's ban Greek and Roman and Norse Mythology also. You will find some will attempt to even censor Santa Claus as a Myth??
Here is an overview of such doctrine:
