    Macy's Shoplifting Charge in Texas
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
And im 17 years old, and still live at home.

I got caught shoplifting at a Macy's in Texas. I had around 125 dollars worth of stolen merchandise from Macys and more merch from various stores. Im only being charged with the items from Macys considering the LP only cares about recovering Macys property.

Basically i found out Macy's almost always prosectutes. So they called my parents and informed them that the Manager is going to charge me and they are calling the cops. In Texas legal age to be treated like an adult is 17. So when i got arrested they took me to the city jail than the next morning took me to county jail. My parents got me a bail bond and i got out.

I havent really read alot of the posts about shoplifting, but i did skim through a couple and saw alot about Diversion. I mean i honestly was shoplifting and they have me on camera. The charge is a 50-500 shoplifting charge i think, and is only a misdomeanor and is my only time ive ever been arrested or in any trouble with the law. But, unfortunatly i didnt think i would be caught because ive stolen there multiple times. And if there is anyway i can fight this and take it to a lesser charge or even off my record at all i want to do that.

My parents also have a lawyer,i havent talked to him. But i have a court date coming up. And if they have me on camera that makes me automatically guilty right? Sorry for the long post. Im just really worried about the future of my life, after seeing all the losers in jail. And i dont blame anyone but myself in this matter. So any help to my multiple questions would be helpful

    Thanks,

    P.S
I just read a post and someone suggested to a guy that he should ask the court about a Anti Shoplifting Class. Would this be useful to ask the court to get a less harsh punishment? Or know of any other programs?

Alright, thanks will do. I also found out today that it is indeed a class b misdomeanor(sp) and that could involve 6 months of jail time. Would they really punish me that bad for a first time offense?

As i said i havent talked to a lawyer yet but should i ask if i could get probation, community service, ect..?
