    Changing a Father in Virginia
My question involves paternity law for the State of: virginia
I have a nine month old daughter. At the time she was concieved, there were two possible fathers. One was my boyfriend I had been with for two years but were on a short break at the time, the other was a week long fling. My boyfriend knew there was a possibility she wasn't his, but we chose to keep it a secret from everyone else. He signed the papers and was put on the birth certificate. The fling (who she looks exactly like and is way more likely due to certain facts) wasn't informed until she was already a month old. When the baby was about two months, I left the listed father and started dating the fling. They both had at home paternity tests done and both came back negative. There are no other possibilities for a father. I want a legal test done and my ex taken off the certificate. I also want to add her real father. How would I go about doing so and how much would it cost?

"They both had at home paternity tests done and both came back negative" - you mean, both possible fathers tested negative?

Rather than going to court, trying to get court orders for multiple paternity tests, etc., why not get bona fide paternity tests from a court-approved facility and see what the results are? Start with the declared father, and if it's not him move on to the new boyfriend. If they both test negative again, start thinking about who else might be the father.
