Back Child Support
My question involves child support in the State of: texas
yes i have a question that i need an answer to.
for 9 years my ex did not tell me that i had a son and then recently she showed up and popped the cat out of the bag. we were not married and we were young. she left me to live in indiana and we tryed to work it out but one day i called to talk to her and her family said that had an abortion and if i called anymore they would call the police for harrasment charges. so i left and joined the army and now here we are.
question, i want to go court but she dosnt, but im afraid that im going to owe back child support which would cripple me, what would the judge base his decision of off? whould i owe child support? or would it just start the day i took the paterninty test. i did take one and it is lagit stamped by a notary

Re: Back Child Support
We're talking, then, about a child who lives in Indiana? And who may have been born in Indiana? Indiana permits retroactive support in paternity cases, at the discretion of the court. That's more likely to occur when you know of the child and nonetheless make it difficult for the mother to collect support from you. Given that it's discretionary, it's something you would want to discuss with an Indiana lawyer before you bring your paternity action.
