Assaulted by Boyfriend in Texas

My question involves criminal law for the state of: TEXAS...in 2006, iIcalled 911 while my boyfriend (X) went downstairs to retrieve his clothes that I had cut up and thrown over the patio of the apartment we lived at, in a rage while he was gone. He had implied he was going to another woman's home to sleep with her-we both had been drinking heavily and we are barely social drinkers. Sorry to give unnecessary details, but to this day I am ashamed of what i did. He had found the clothes and beat me, I honestly thought he was going to kill me-I begged for my life numerous times-he said he was going to kill me. This beating was bad and lasted almost an hr and a half. I was drug up concrete stairs by my hair, I am sure I fractured my arm, he threw me in the bathtub and my elbow took off the water fawcet from the force of the blow. That knocked me out. I remember blacking out and waking up to his hand around my throat pulling me out of the tub he dragged me by the throat-I couldn't breath-he was choking me then threw me down and started kicking me. long story short. I call 911. The police do not see any marks or bruises on me except red scratches, which he tells them I always have-they believe him and say i am quite drunk. They tell me they believe me also though that he did hurt me, but if I press charges he'll press charges against me and my charges will be a felony-criminal mischief over 1000.00. This was 2006. I did not know that there were strangulation laws in some states. Are there laws for choking in Tx and is it too late? And since the cops did not see anything do I even have a chance in hell?
