Changing My Last Name, Not Legally Married, While Recieving SSDI
I recieve SSDI, and my boyfriend recieves SSDI and SSI, so we can't get married without losing his SSI. I'm wanting to have a commitment ceremony, since we can't get legally married, and I'm wondering if I legally change my last name to HIS last name..without being legally married.. will this affect his SSI benefits??? Do any common law marriage laws apply?? We currently live in FL, but are soon moving back home to OH. What do you think? I'd really like to take his last name. Thanks!

A name change of itself doesn't affect benefits eligibility. I'm assuming, of course, that you're being completely honest with the Social Security Administration.
