Caught for Internal Theft

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California.

So i got caught with internal theft that came to $145. I signed a written statement to the stores LP and was suspended for 3 days. When I return I am supposed to talk to the stores Human Resources lady. They didn't call the cops because I co-operated, but when I asked them what was going to happen next they said they didn't know. So my question is, what could happen next??

One of the people involved just got fired and the other the other person that was involved was sent to jail and is going to court. The last person never got talked to because they quit before they had a chance to talk. I tried to quit my job but they wouldn't let me because I was suspended. I told them i would return all the items I took.

Will this go on my record? Could they just drop the whole thing and just fire me? Could I be taken to jail at any point? Could they come to my house and arrest me?

I tried to quit that job last night but they wouldn't let me because I was suspended. When can I quit? Do I have to talk to them about anything else if I quit? Can they do anything after I quit? Could anything else happen if I go back there and talk to them? I could return everything that was taken, would that solve anything?

You might consider speaking to an attorney. You can be charged for burglary and embezzlement if they choose to. You might ask them up front if they will accept the property back in exchange for no charges, but even that is a gamble.

In my view refusing to meet with them again will guarantee criminal charges will be pressed. I do agree with Carl you should talk to an Attorney

I don't understand why they couldn't tell me what was going to happen next. I would assume if they were going to arrest me they would do it on the spot like they did with the other person.

There are countless reason why they would wait. One could be so they could investigate further

We cannot tell you what WILL happen next because we are not part of this investigation, nor are we employees of the store. Many things MIGHT happen, and many COULD happen, but we cannot be sure what WILL happen.

When I went to talk to them today all that happened was I got fired. I returned pretty much everything, but I'm happy its over.
