Maximum Penalty for Not Finishing Probation
My question involves criminal law for the state of: NORTH CAROLINA.
I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE GOT CHARGED FOR CLASS 1 MISDEMEANOR LARCENY AND GOT SUPERVISED PROBATION, AND 24 HOURS COMMUNITY SERVICE AND DIDNT FINISH ANY OF IT, WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM SENTENCE THEY WILL GET IF THEY TURN THEMSELVES IN?
Re: Maximum Penalty for Not Finishing Probation
They could get the entire original sentence term (a year in jail) But turning yourself in is better then getting caught and a damn good excuse will help.
What you do is hire a lawyer, he arranges the 'exchange' has bail preset so you're in and out of jail in a few hours. (pending a hearing) This should not make you a 'flight risk' but it could. In which case you'll stay in jail for months waiting a hearing. All in all you are in a tough spot. Don't even think about trying this without an attorney.
