Delay in Receiving Unemployment Forms or Lost Forms
My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
I have been receiving unemployment benefits for a few months. The last check I received was in early October. After not receiving a check or any forms/communication in the mail I tried repeatedly (sometimes for hours and hours in a day) to contact the state. Their phone system has been understandably overwhelmed with calls. The recording for the state even tries to scare people from repeated calls by saying that there could be a delay in processing payments if a request or appeal is filed. So stupidly I waited a couple more weeks before I spent nearly 2 days trying to get through.
I finally got through to a live person who told me they did not receive anything from me after the last check was sent and that they couldn't do anything other than allow me to file an appeal.
I believe I have about 6 weeks where I have looked for work, applied for work, was able to work, etc, etc.
Do i have a case, and if so can anybody please give me advice on what to say/not to say when I talk to themn on my appeals call?
I TRULY APPRECIATE any help.:)
My phone call is now scheduled and I was wondering if I have any chance to recoup my past unclaimed benefits from the period where I could not contact the state.
Re: Delay in Receiving Unemployment Forms or Lost Forms
Surprise! The state called me today and apologized for the delays in contacting them. They are supposedly sending me all back forms and I should be okay. I will update.
