    J Visa Holder Marrying a U.S. Citizen
    Hi,
I am on J-1 visa [until june 2010]. I started the j-1 waiver process in oct-2008 through "no objection letters" [dint get the waiver yet]

Now I am planning to get married to a US citizen in my home country in june 2009. My question is..........

1-Do I need to make any changes in my passport or visa before coming back to US?[i'll be on j-1 visa legally]
2- After coming back to US what should be my next step to change the visa status?

3- should I do anything right now[any paperwork] or just wait for the waiver certificate?

You're talking about getting a waiver to the two year foreign residency requirement?

You can enter on the J1, but you can't adjust your status on the J1 without getting a waiver of your foreign residency requirement; marriage is not a basis for waiver, and you aren't eligible for an immigrant visa or green card until that period is waived or expires.
