Help regarding an MIP
I recently recieve an MIP over the Christmas holdays, however the officer wrote on our ticket that it occured in November not December. I know people who have gotten speeding tickets dissmissed because the wrong date was printed on the ticket would it be possible to try to get ours dismissed for the same reason, although I realize traffice violations are different?
If not does Indiana have it set up to take differal classes for a first offense? I'm not from this state so I don't know if it's the same as at home.
Also, I recieved a letter from my university that they had been notified about the infraction and although we faced no penalties because it was not on campus, it stated they were informed I was arrested for a minor in possession. Should I arrange and appointment to clarify we were not arrested, we recieved tickets and went home, or would being given the ticket some how be considered being arrested? And do you know what misdemeanor classification an MIP is in the state of Indiana?
And lastly, does an officer have to state why he pulled you over? I was mostly just curious because I've been pulled over with friends several times, this time included, and been asked if we were heading to a party we had supposedly driven by, or simply had the officer talk to us, get the drivers license and registration and then leave.

Error on Ticket
It is difficult to know if the error would help you defeat the ticket, without knowing a lot more about what happened. A local criminal defense lawyer may be able to advise you.
