MIP in Georgia
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Georgia
About a month ago, I had parked my car at a friends house and rode with him to pick up a few of his friends. I did not know anyone in his car except my buddy. We were heading to the movies that night for a guys night out type deal and one of the kids recieved a call from a girl asking him to come over and hang out. He also had left his car at my friends house so we were all together. When we got to the girl's house she had 3 other friends over and they were all playing beer pong and hanging out but soon after we got there, we just started watching the football game that night. The kid whose house it was, well his parents, recieved a call saying his truck was illegally parked and was about to be towed, so we all went outside with him. As we were walking, the police shined their flashlights on us and told us all to sit down, in a much different way than being nice. But anyways, the kid whose truck as well as the house started lying to the police saying the beer was in the woods and all this nonsense. So while he led them on a wild goose chase, I told the officer that he was lying that the beer they had been drinking was in the house and there were more people. Long story short, we all recieved minor in possession charges that night, even though I had no intentions on drinking what so ever considering I was leaving for boot camp soon and did not want to risk being in trouble. We did not know any of these people that were there that were taking part in the drinking and also I had no way to leave the house even if I wanted to, because my car was parked at my friend's house. What are the chances this will be dropped considering I chose not to drink, did not purchase the alcohol and have witnesses to say I told them I will not drink. My court date is in 1 week and everyone lately is now saying I will be charged. What should I do? Should I get a lawyer to settle this? Or should I have one of my National Guard recruiters come with me and try to settle this and plead innocent?

Re: MIP in Georgia
You might want to get a lawyer's help and see what he can do for you.
