    Options for Beating a Ticket
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: Washington

Hi, I was issued my first speeding ticket last Wednesday morning and am wondering what my options (if any) for keeping this ticket off of my record are.

I had just made a right turn off of the road I live on onto the main road (35mph limit). It was rush hour and there is a blind corner to the left of the road I had turned off of. So when you pull out, you have to speed up quickly (especially at 8am in the middle of the week). Anyways, I pulled out after 3 (maybe 4) other cars had gone past and sped up to keep up with them and the cars that I could see coming up behind me almost as soon as I had turned. This main road curves and then becomes a downhill, and at the bottom of which two motorcycle policemen were waiting. I had just begun to even out my speed when I noticed that someone was standing in the road signaling everyone in front of me over. It took me several seconds to recognize that they were policemen, but by then they were signaling me over as well. The people who were behind me (and were obviously speeding) were not pulled over. They were not tailgating me but were advancing at enough speed to make me nervous.

Anyways, I was issued a ticket for 45 in the 35 zone (I might also mention that ~.1-.2 miles after the location I was given a ticket, the speed limit increases to 40mph). I know that I was going above the speed limit, and I know I was feeling rushed due to running late to get to a work meeting, but do you think any of the above circumstances might be enough to somehow get me out of this ticket? I don't mind paying the fine, but really want to keep this off my record as I am just turning 17 next week and would like to keep my insurance down.

Also, would hiring a lawyer do any good? With what little research I have done it looks like the cost would be comparable to the ticket + the insurance increase. I have no knowledge of the success of hiring a lawyer in a situation like this, but I'm hoping someone might tell me if they think that would be a good idea.

    Thanks so much!

Why not go for a deferral?
