Rights After Pardon

My question involves expungements or pardons for the state of: Michigan. After recieveing a Full Pardon by the Govenor in 1973, was my record completely erased. I have been finger printed for a job connected with the goverment since then and recieved the job. Confused about how that works? Surely if anything showed up they would not have given me the job. Have had only one arrest and felony conviction. Young and stupid and no attorney at that time. Found out years later that the charge should have been a misdemeaner because the $ figure was below $100. according to Michigan law at that time. O'well its over. been happy and honest for 41 yrs. now. Thanks for your help with this.

A pardon is the legal equal to a "do over".

The effect of a pardon varies by state, and some states have more than one type of pardon.

From what I can find, in Michigan a Pardon results in the full restoration of your civil rights but does not cause your record to be expunged. Consider ordering a copy of your record from the Michigan State Police and see what appears on it.

After a full pardon from the govenor of Michigan 42 yrs. ago are my rights to own a hunting rifle restored. If so doe's that include all 50 states since I now reside in Arkansas. Thanks for any info about this matter.

From what I can find, in Michigan a Pardon results in the full restoration of your civil rights but does not cause your record to be expunged. I am not going to go through the laws of all 50 states to figure out if all of them will respect a Michigan pardon as restoring your rights. For Arkansas, this suggests that a pardon of an out-of-state conviction will be respected in relation to the restoration of your firearms rights in that state.
