    Getting Out of Mother's Custody
    Hello my BF told me about this site and said i might be able to get some help with my mother so bare with me please. O and thank you too!

    Im 17 and live in florida my mother has parental custody of me but is verbaly abuse towards me. My mother verbaly abuses me constantly and i need to get out of the house sometimes. She has me locked down and threatens to call the police on me if i leave. all i want to do is go for a walk and cool down or even go see my BF who she hates. I need to know if i can leave the house and not be arrested and pulled back into her madhouse

    I cant be amecipated because of an auto accident that i am healing from and lost my job because of.

    If you run away from home she can try to get the police involved. It is difficult to know how they would react, given that you are 17. Some police departments aren't much concerned with making 17-year-old kids return home if they have found a safe and appropriate alternative residence. (But some are - check with the local PD or a local lawyer.)

    In Florida, your parents would have to initiate any emancipation proceedings. If you suffered injuries which make it harder for you to support yourself, those injuries would weigh against emancipation.
