Unpaid Insurance
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Michigan
I am having a problem with a former employer who fired me about five weeks ago. since he has let me go he has refused to pay me for a day of work, and a comission and I recently found out that he cancelled my health insurance six weeks before he fired me. In regards to the day of work I am a mechanic and i work on a daily pay and comisiion on top of that. he is claiming that the day in question was a half day so he is putting two half days together to make one full day. Now that was never the case previous to firing me. In regards to the benefits he simply continued taking them out of my check after cncellation and will not respond to me in anyway. The total dollar amount for the benefits including a couple doctors bills is only about $400. and the day of pay plus the comission is about another $200. I just dont know what to do, obviously I want my money but I also think that what he has done is illegal and I want him to pay for this in that respect as well. Not to mention the hours I have spent on the phone trying to figure this all out. I know that was a lot thanks for the help.
