Possession of Marijuana in New York

My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York


two days ago, i was arrested for the following
1) unauthorized use of vehicle (i was not the driver)
2) possession of marijuana(approx 16 grams)[ this was in the trunk of the vehicle, which i did not know of, i was only the passenger of the car]

is this intend to sell? and how serious are the charges? this is my first time offense.

Have you talked to an attorney about that unauthorized use of a vehicle charge? That one "may constitute a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to one thousand dollars or by a sentence to a term of imprisonment for a period of up to one year or by both such fine and imprisonment."

Ow.

The pot charge is less serious, carrying a fine of $100.
