Is It Possible to Get a Shoplifting Case Dismissed
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Iowa

As I mentioned in another post that I was caught shoplift for goods about $12. I consulted some lawyers and will hire one eventually.
    Now my questions are:
    1. Is it possible to get the case dismissed with the help of the lawyer? To my understanding, if I want the case to be dismissed, then I need plea no guilt in my visiting of court, then we need go to trial to let the judge or jery make decision, right?

    2. I also be advised about" referred judgement". In which step I can reach this one?
    3. is "referred judgement" equal to" probation+fine".

    4. Will the criminal record disapear after "referred judgement" or "probation"?

Any help and advises are appreciated!!!!!

I would not expect DA to "drop" a case that he cant lose. However there are option that might be available that would keep a conviction off your record and still meet punishment requirements. Ask your Attorney about Diversion programs and if they are available in your county
