What Will Happen
My question involves criminal law for the state of: NC
A family member is beating his wife and I am over 10,000 miles away from them. He is metally ill to put it lightly and I am working with Social services to get him help. The DSS hasn't taking action yet because they are still gathering information. He is mentally ill and I wondered what the process would be like. His wife is very loyal to him and doesn't want him to go to prison over this because we all feel Schizophrenic or has a serious metal illness. He doesn't really know where reality starts and ends. What kind of process will he go through?

Re: What Will Happen
If you're 10,000 miles away and his wife isn't willing to take any initiative, it's possible that nothing will happen. What process are you talking about?

Re: What Will Happen
Well his wife was willing to work with the DSS but something happened with her roommate. Her roommate told him and he said that all we (his wife and I) where trying to do was make sure that she (the roommate) wouldn't have her kids anymore. Now they want to try to sue me for defamation of character and they think my family is taking his trust fund away because of this. Both of these would be false. When speaking to the DSS and the state he lives in I never once mentioned anyone's names or where they live or any contact information because I knew I would need his wife to make something happen. Also He has not contacted the part of the family holding the trust fund for anything other than to try to borrow money and they feel he doesn't deserve the trust fund. It would have nothing to do with what he wants to think. Should I be worried?
