Breaking Lease in NYS for Medical Reasons
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: New York

I recently found out I am preganant and am at increased risk for miscarriage. It is necessary for me to not live alone at this time. I provied my landlord with a 60 notice of my need to move and spoke with them via telephone detailing my current situation. I understand I have signed a lease but was wondering if NYS is one of the states that allows breaking a lease for medical reasons. My landlord has threatened to sue me for the remainder of the lease. I also am aware of no reasonable efforts the landlord is making to find another renter as I know they are obligated to do (post a sign, advertise in local paper etc). What options do I have?

You are bound by your lease.

Your landlord doesn't have to try to find a new tenant until you actually break the lease. So far, from what you have indicated, it's just talk.
