How to Transfer a Suspended License
My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: CA
I lived in California for a while, then moved to NC, where I currently reside. Because I am lazy, I hadn't gotten around to transferring my driver's license to NC. I got pulled over for a minor traffic violation and much to my surprise, my CA driver's license has been suspended - I have no idea why. Will I need to resolve this with CA before I can proceed with a DL transfer (or new driver's license) in NC, or can I get the new DL from NC, then resolve the matter with CA? I would obviously prefer the latter since that gets me legal faster. Help?
Re: How to Transfer a Suspended License
It's doubtful that North Carolina will issue you a license with your CA license being suspended - states share drivers license information.
Get your CA license situation straightened out first. Contact the DMV to find out why it was suspended, and pay any fines that might be outstanding.
