Fraud: NSF Fraud, 2 Charges in 2 Counties

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read this. Any suggestions or even a friendly hello would be wonderful :) Ok well where to start. My husband had some issues with drugs earlier this year. I'll start by saying that he is now clean and this lasted only for about 2 months and now won't touch them due to all the issues that arose.

Anyways, during this time he handled all the checking I didn't even bother to check online @ the statements anymore cuz never had a problem. Well long story short he wrote several bad checks totalling about $450 in one county and $600 in another. Well bad thing for me is I wrote one and wasn't even aware that it bounced. Well needless to say I am being charged with NSF Fraud $50 or less which is only a Misdemeanor. But he is facing 1 charge in Ottawa county for Fraud- NSF 3 or more checks in 10 days which is a felony. Now he bonded out of both and goes for his first arraignment tomorrow. What should I expect from this?

I might be wrong in assuming but I feel pretty safe on mine that I won't serve any jail time (please let me know if I may be wrong and if you have any personal or professional experience here) I've only ever had one other minor Misdemeanor charge for swatting my step son on the butt after he peed on me (another long story) anyways any help or advice would be appreciated.

Oh yeah and he now told me (and we've been together 9 yrs) that he does have on previous charge from about 10-12 yrs ago for a bad check. So please any help or suggestions on where I can go to look for help. I can't afford a lawyer and the checks aren't paid yet but only because we don't have the full amount and when we went a couple weeks ago to one place to make a partial payment they wouldn't accept it. Said we had to pay in full or else they had to refuse payment.

Ok I hope I didn't leave anything out. Sorry for the long post but your time and help is so greatly appreciated. This is way out of my league as I just don't do things to get myself into these messes. But I understand life happens I just can't go to jail. I have 2 beautful children at home and that would just kill them.
